Investigators seek help solving July 4th murder

LINDENWOLD, N.J. - April 23, 2011

Around 3:45am, gunshots rang out in the area of the Coachman Manor Apartments in Lindenwold, New Jersey July 4th last year.

The body of 26 year old Raul Chavez of Camden was discovered adjacent to the apartments on a dirt pathway behind the 7-Eleven in the 400 block of Gibbsboro Road. He had been shot multiple times.

The victim's father lives in El Salvador, and investigator Miguel Rubert of the Camden County Prosecutor's office says the father is very saddened by the murder of his only son.

"Raul's father, the only family member alive, is from San Salvador. Raul's father had to come and claim the body, and take him back to San Salvador where he was buried," explained Miguel Rubert.

Police are tracking down many leads, but they need someone to come forward with that one piece of information that will crack the case.

If you know who gunned down Raul Chavez, call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS. It is a call that could be worth $1,000.

Investigator Rubert wants to bring closure to Raul's father.

"I would like to give him that phone call and let him know that we have justice for his son," said Rubert.
