4 Pa. restaurant break-ins net booze, change

ROSS, Pa. (AP) - April 27, 2011

Ross police say four bars or restaurants were broken within one hour on Monday morning, ending when a pizza place worker scared off the would-be thief.

Investigators say the spree started around 5 a.m. when a restaurant's door was pried open but only some change and beer from the cooler was taken. A nearby bar's glass door was smashed soon after and a surveillance camera recorded the thief failing to pry open a cash register and taking a bottle of liquor instead.

Authorities say the man then smashed another restaurant's door before his fourth break-in try was foiled.

The incidents are under investigation.
