Corbett marks 100th day as Pennsylvania governor

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - April 27, 2011

Only months ago, the former attorney general was best known for prosecuting corruption in the Legislature. Now, he's working with legislative leaders to put a Republican stamp on state policies after eight years of power sharing.

Corbett's promise not to increase taxes or fees is central to his biggest political liabilities - his proposed cuts in education spending and his opposition to taxing the state's growing natural-gas industry.

Many GOP lawmakers are looking for ways to blunt the education cuts and backing a fee or tax to pay for road repairs and other impacts of gas drilling proliferating across the state.

Corbett says he's doing exactly what he promised during his campaign.
