I don't know about you, but I've noticed with the younger generations that they do not quite seem to have the same work ethic. We really try to teach our children how important it is to work hard and to be both joyful and dedicated when you are building your career.
My older daughter started her day at 3am to follow me into the studio. She learned how to manipulate the Big Board, and how to operate Storm Tracker 6. I thought she'd take a nap before the noon show, but she plowed right through the day asking great questions all along. Frankly, I was surprised and thrilled at the dedication and enthusiasm she showed.
Her younger sister followed my husband to the office. She shredded papers and delivered messages. She's known in our house to be quite blunt. My husband told me he took her out to lunch and she seemed appalled at how boring his day was! She seemed to be counseling him wishing there were something more exciting he could do with his life! My husband helps state governments support their Medicare and Medicaid funding. We think his job is important, but my 8 year old couldn't imagine a life behind a desk!
I had at least one viewer comment that she didn't believe in taking your kids out of school for such an event. But, we hope they each learned something about the value of hard work. Here's the link if you're interested in learning more about the national program.
