Trenton mayor's top aide arrested on drug charge

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - May 2, 2011

Trenton Mayor Tony Mack says Paul Sigmund IV has been relieved of his duties "indefinitely" after he allegedly tried to buy heroin Monday morning. Sigmund also was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

The 46-year-old Sigmund couldn't be reached for comment. He joined Mack's administration in March after state officials urged Mack to hire a chief of staff.

Sigmund is a member of a prominent political family. His late mother, Barbara Boggs Sigmund, is a former mayor of Princeton and the daughter of former Louisiana congressman Hal Boggs. His aunt is ABC commentator Cokie Roberts.

The story was first reported by The Times of Trenton.
