Driver sought in hit-and-run of boy, 7

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. - May 3, 2011

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says Omar Butcher was driving on Franklin Boulevard around 7:00 p.m. Saturday when he hit the boy at the intersection of Charles Avenue.

Butcher, and two other occupants, then allegedly fled the scene, though the two other men were quickly apprehended after the crash.

Prosecutor Ted Housel said he has authorized charges of second-degree assault by auto while in a school zone, third-degree leaving the scene of accident involving seriously bodily injury, third-degree endangering an injured victim and fourth-degree causing serious bodily injury while driving while suspended.

The boy who was struck was hospitalized in an unknown condition.
