City-wide yard sale Saturday

OCEAN CITY, New Jersey - May 6, 2011

Those are just a few of the amazing deals at the rummage sale at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ocean City, New Jersey. The sale starts at 8:00 a.m. today (May 6, 2011).

Church volunteers have been organizing donated items for the sale all week. And there's really something for everyone.

The Rev. Mark Bruesehoff explains, "Everything from housewares and kitchen items to clothes, to larger electronics, furniture, pictures, just about anything imaginable has come in."

Proceeds from the sale will benefit Family Promise in Cape May County, St. John's companion church in Namibia, and the Lutheran Disaster Response to help tornado victims in the South.

Prices start at 25 cents, with women's dresses and men's suits topping the price scale at $3.00.

And whatever's left on Saturday will be sold by the bag. Shoppers can purchase a large trash bag for $3.00 and take home whatever fits inside.

And the Church isn't the only place where you'll find bargains on Saturday.

Starting at 8:00 a.m., Ocean City is holding its annual city-wide yard sale.

Marcia Shallcross, Executive Director of Ocean City Downtown explains, "We are going to be swarmed with people and yard sales going on all around town. We have 90 sales going on at our Tabernacle ground, that's between 5th and 6th and Asbury streets, and another 75 sales throughout Ocean City."

Some of the sales are in people's front yards. Others are in front of downtown businesses. The sales start at 8 a.m.
