Rolla Police say the suspect, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon.
Rolla Police Chief Mark Kearse identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cody N. Willcoxson.
Willcoxson lives in Missouri's South West City, near the Oklahoma border. He was released from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in 2008 after serving about 3½ years for burglary, escaping from jail, and other felonies.
Authorities say the suspect drove through a security gate at Fort Leonard Wood Thursday morning and fired on police during a chase. They believe he later entered and left a building at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
