Police search for suspect in 1-man crime spree

PHILADELPHIA - May 14, 2011

"We need to get this guy off the street," said Santo Montecalvo of the Citizens Crime Commission.

Police suspect 48 year old Daniel or Danny Simmons of pick pocketing wallets from handbags of more than a dozen unsuspecting women at bars, eateries, coffee shops and department stores, many of them in Radnor Township.

"You know, girls have their pocket books over their shoulders, get bumped into, might be in a department store; he sees you there, sees where you just made a charge, sees you put it in your pocketbook, then goes from there," explained Montecalvo.

From there, he would steal his victims' credit cards and go on his own personal shopping spree at stores including Kohl's and Target.

A $1,000 reward is being offered, and this time you don't have to wait until he has been convicted to get the cash.

"Since there are 13 outstanding warrants on this individual, once he is locked up, you will get the $1,000 immediately," said Montecalvo.

Police say Simmons may be driving a 2002 Buick LeSabre with Pennsylvania plate number HSF4890, according to surveillance photos of him in the parking lot of a restaurant in Bryn Mawr.

Simmons has also used the name Daniel Dudley. His last known address is the 5500 block of Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia.

If you know his whereabouts, call the Tipline at 215-546-TIPS.
