The victim has been identified as Leroy Costin III of Deptford Township.
The incident happened around 12:20 a.m. Monday in front of a Wawa convenience store, located at the intersection of Delsea Drive and Carterette Avenue.
Police say the victim was crossing the street in front of the Wawa when he was struck by a Chevrolet Suburban SUV.
When police and medic units arrived, they found Costin lying in the middle of the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police tell Action News that it was raining at the time of the accident.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene. No charges are pending in the incident.
