Del. presidential primaries likely moving to April

DOVER, Del. - May 22, 2011

Delaware GOP committeewoman Priscilla Rakestraw tells WDEL Radio that both the Democratic and Republican national parties prompted the change. The new date must be approved by the legislature. But Rakestraw says it's largely settled.

Rakestraw says Delaware was given a choice of voting at the same time as Maryland and the District of Columbia in early April or at the same time as Pennsylvania on April 24. Delaware party leaders chose the Pennsylvania date.

That's instead of voting in February as Delaware did in 2007.

Rakestraw says they're hoping they can get presidential candidates visiting Pennsylvania to visit Delaware as well.
