The Thursday night storms generated tornadoes in Bradford and Schuylkill Counties and also produced thunderstorms and hail.
PPL told The (Scranton) Times-Tribune that as of midafternoon Saturday, 5,125 customers lacked power in Pike County, down from 12,000 who lost electricity during the storm. Also without electricity were 3,400 people in Wayne County, 2,500 in Monroe County and 170 in Lackawanna County.
PPL says it hopes to have power fully restored by the end of the day, although some customers might remain without power until Sunday.
