Authorities in Schuylkill County say a fire badly damaged a school complex, forcing the cancellation of classes.

School officials say there will be no school Tuesday for students at the Mahanoy Area School Complex.

Board President Tony Miller says the fire early Monday caused extensive damage to the elementary and middle schools, and smoke and water damage to the high school.

Fire Chief Randy Kalce says the fire appears to have started in a storage area of the cafeteria. But he says the exact cause remains unknown.
