Water main break floods Bustleton Ave.

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - June 3, 2011

Less than a block from where a tornado struck last month, a flood of water welled up from the ground Friday night, caused by a ruptured 12-inch water main at Red Lion road and Bustleton Avenue.

The Philadelphia Water Department tells Action News a large main burst at 7:45 p.m.

Police responded and cordoned off one corner of the intersection as they awaited the arrival of water department crews.

Many drivers ignored the danger, and the police, and went through the flooded intersection.

The water department says only three customers lost service and crews will be out on Saturday to make repairs.
