College nixes national anthem

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) - June 8, 2011

The school is nixing the national anthem before sporting events.

Some complain the anthem glorifies war.

The school's board of directors is telling college President Jim Brenneman to find an alternative.

The board says it still wants to honor the nation, but in a way that's consistent with the school's pacifist message.

The anthem didn't last long at Goshen College.

It's only been played for about a year at games.
