Representative Weiner, who has come under fire for sending graphic photographs of himself to women online, sent twitter messages to a 17 year old girl who lives in North Wilmington.
New Castle County Police responded Friday afternoon to speak with the teenager's mother. The teenager was reportedly taken to the police department for questioning.
The congressman's office responded late Friday saying that according to Congressman Weiner, his communications with the teenager were neither explicit nor indecent.
The teen's neighbors say those communications should not have happened at all.
"If he was speaking to anyone under age, he knew, in his business in his state of life as he is now, what the repercussions were," said Montgomery.
The girl reportedly started following Congressman Weiner after she saw him speak during a field trip to the nation's capitol in April.
Neighbor Terry Stinson, who also has a young daughter, says she hopes the matter is fully investigated.
