Pa. man charged in roommate's stabbing death

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - June 12, 2011

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook told the Erie Times-News that Saturday's death of 51-year-old John Mares of Erie was ruled a homicide after an autopsy Sunday.

Police were called to the apartment at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Investigators have not said what led to the stabbing.

Authorities said 37-year-old Robert Duval, who also lived in the apartment, was charged early Sunday with criminal homicide and possessing an instrument of crime.

Police said he was arraigned before Distirct Judge Paul Urbaniak and taken to Erie County Prison; it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
