My mom knew what she was doing. You can't run a house of 12 without some help from the older siblings.
This summer while I'm at work, I'm going to have my kids spend a little time teaching each other. My oldest daughter can read with my middle child while she reads to my 3 year old! I want them to continue reading and brush up on math facts, while still having a good time.
I've always heard that kids have fun teaching each other and it usually benefits all involved. (It will also kill a few minutes of a very long day for my poor babysitter!)
It turns out, there's a whole website devoted to kids teaching kids. You can get suggestions and watch videos of the kids in action.
If you don't have kids who can teach each other, maybe they can learn from the videos!
