Katharyn Nicolle of Wenonah won the title Saturday night at the Ocean City Music Pier, beating out 22 other contestants. The first runner-up was 23-year-old Roopali Pendse of Morris Plains.
The 20-year-old Nicolle, who attends Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., is an environmental enthusiast whose service platform will be "Reading for the Right Reason." She won a $10,000 scholarship and will compete in the Miss America Pageant, which will be held in Las Vegas in January.
Nicolle, who performed a ballet routine in the talent competition, succeeds last year's winner, Ashleigh Udalovas of Millville.
