Still no arrest in North Phila. store clerk's murder

PHILADELPHIA - June 20, 2011

Felix Rodriguez, was the owner of Los Ingenitos Grocery. He was shot in the face and the chest, in what appeared to be a robbery attempt Saturday night.

"He was all about his whole family. He cared a lot about his family. Everything he did was for them; for us," said nephew Kevin Rodriguez.

"He was an honest person, a hard working person. He was very friendly," said Victor Almeda, a friend of Rodriguez.

Police say that the store did have surveillance cameras. Such footage could be key in finding the unidentified suspects.

"One of them was not masked. The other two used their t-shirts to shield their faces. It's our belief that they were possibly known to the store owner and that they possibly lived in the area," said Captain James Clarke of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Rodriguez was a grandfather who planned to sell the store and soon retire. Rodriguez' family and friend are still in shock, and are deeply grieving over their lost.

"It's tough because it's so unexpected. It's outrageous that people would do something like this especially right before father's day," said nephew Kevin Rodriguez.

The funeral for Rodriguez is set for Wednesday. In the meantime, his family and friends are raising money in order to post a reward for information that leads to the capture and conviction of his killers.
