McNabb works out with Eagles in Jersey

June 22, 2011

Yes, you read that right.

The Redskins quarterback was a surprise guest at the South Jersey fields where the Birds have been gathering over the past couple months.

Action News sports producer Mark Meany was able to get a one on one interview with the former Eagles franchise QB as he walked towards his car following the workout.

Number 5 was in the area not only to work with some old friends, but for the dedication of the brand new McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees.

The McNabb family funded a huge portion of the project.

"I'm in town, obviously, for Virtua and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the new facility that they're building off of 73, but while I'm out, get some good work with some of the guys that I bled and sweat and cried with," McNabb said.

Mark then asked McNabb how he liked to see the familiar faces out on the field on this summer day.

"You communicate with them, to actually see them and work with them, it's a wonderful thing. To see Jason Avant and those guys, everybody's trying to get better until this lockout is over," McNabb said.

While McNabb is on the outs with Washington since losing his starting position towards of the end of last season, this workout was in no way a sign of an Eagles comeback.

When asked about his future in Washington, McNabb replied, "Nice one. Nice one. I'm just working out right now. So, as you can see, I'm in some great shape and I'm only going to get better."

Before McNabb left in his car, he gave one final note to Action News - about the weather.

"It's pretty cool, cold out here, it's about 85, but that's all. Thanks guys," McNabb said before driving away.
