Up close -- not so much.
So, green-rock landscaping is going out of style. It used to be a popular way for people in Arizona to give their homes the appearance of having a lush lawn. They'd spread generous blankets of pea gravel on their yards, glue it down, and paint it green.
But these days, a Phoenix-area landscaper tells the Arizona Republic newspaper that he's one of the few who are still using that technique. Kevin Parker says, "It's becoming a lost art."
Still, there are fans of the painted, glued-down gravel. One woman who lives in a Phoenix-area retirement community points out that you can just "sweep the dirt off of it." She says she's only had to have her yard repainted once in 19 years.
