Wanted man escapes after police confrontation

CHESTER, Pa. - June 29, 2011

Oliver Burbage, 48, is a convicted felon with a lengthy record. The Pennsylvania State Police say he is currently wanted out of Bethlehem for assault.

He was last seen the morning of June 22nd entering a house in the 800 block of McDowell Avenue in Chester.

State Trooper Robert Kirby says he was driving down McDowell when he spotted Burbage. Kirby says he got out of his car and ordered Burbage to the ground.

Instead, Burbage remained still and, when Kirby approached, Burbage allegedly moved into a fighting stance and put his hand behind his back, implying he had a weapon.

That's when Burbage ran inside the house and locked the door. Kirby called for backup but, by the time they arrived and entered the home, Burbage had fled.

Police say Burbage should not be approached as he is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact police at 484-840-1000.
