Del. man shot and killed in front of family

WILMINGTON, Del. - June 30, 2011

Around 8:20 a.m. Richardson was shot multiple times as he answered a knock at his door on the 200 block of West 28th Street. His wife and four young children were also in the home at the time of the shooting.

"First thing in the morning, ready to go to work, and someone came into his house in front of his kids and shot and killed him," said Richard Deloatch, the victim's cousin.

Michael Richardson, the victim's father, has felt the heartbreak of losing a son before, another son was shot and killed in 2005.

"I'm just tired of this. This violence has got to stop somewhere," said Richardson.

"We're a very close knit family. We're just trying to comfort each other at this time and pray to God that justice is served," said Tracy Hutt, the victim's aunt.

Wilmington Police said that the suspect fled the scene, running West on 28th Street.

If anyone has information about the suspect, call Wilmington Detectives or Deleware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS.
