Philadelphia ready to Welcome America!

PHILADELPHIA - July 1, 2011

Philadelphia is ready to welcome America and the world for a spectacular a weekend filled with all kinds of sights and sounds. There is just so much to do.

"I just usually think of fireworks," said Gabriella Alvarez of Fort Worth, Texas.

Leba Smith, visiting from the U.S. Virgin Islands, said, "Oh my God, I am going to have a Philly cheese steak, enjoy the weather and see more."

On Independence Mall, Independence Hall is adorned in red, white and blue. It's a patriotic setting for taking in the historic sights.

"We just came by to see the Liberty Bell," said Katelyn Harris of Sacramento, California. "I thought it was pretty awesome."

Crews were setting up the stage Friday for Sunday night's free concert with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.

Outside the National Constitution Center, Continental Army Regiments set up camp, giving visitors a sense of what colonial life was really like. Across the mall, a reading of the Declaration of Independence was underway.

Visitors know this is a special place to be on the weekend when the nation celebrates its independence.

"We're just going to try to take in as much as we possibly can. It is beautiful weather," said Gerry O'Neill of Doylestown, Pa.
