Flames broke out around 4:00 a.m. inside the home, located on the 900 block of Buck Street in Millville, New Jersey.
Arriving police officers saw flames and attempted to enter the twin home when the front porch collapsed due to the heavy fire. Firefighters arrived shortly after and successfully rescued the elderly man.
The victim was then flown to Crozer-Chester Medical Center with burns and smoke inhalation. He is now in stable condition.
Fire crews quickly struck a second then third alarm in the fight to subdue the flames. One firefighter was injured in the battle. He was being treated at the scene.
Five people total were displaced because of the blaze.
So far, there is no word on a cause.
