Crozer Chester nurses approve 3-year contract

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - July 13, 2011

Union spokesman Emily Randle said negotiators for the union and Crozer Chester Medical Center reached agreement Sunday evening on a proposal for the 700 registered nurses.

She said members voted 343 to 89 Tuesday in favor of the contract.

The union says the contract includes wage increases but also increases in health insurance co-payments, a one-year pension freeze and changes in pension plans for new hires.

Hundreds of nurses and supporters rallied last month to call for an agreement after the nurses voted in late May to authorize a strike notice, which the union says was not sent.
