About 1:45 on Friday morning, a commercial vehicle went out of control in the northbound lanes of the highway, near mile marker 16.7 in Gibbstown.
The vehicle slammed into the side of the road and burst into flames.
The driver was trapped inside.
Rescue workers pulled him out and flew him by medical helicopter to the hospital.
There's no word on the driver's exact condition.
The road was closed while police investigated.
