Center offers childcare for $8 an hour

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. - July 20, 2011

KidsPark, located across the street from the Willow Grove Mall, is a licensed, hourly, drop-in childcare center.

Franchise owner Felice Parker is a working mother of six, with degrees in early childhood education. She explains the center charges less than many people pay the teenager next-door for childcare. "It's eight dollars an hour for one child. If you have two children its $12 an hour. If you have three or more, its an additional $3 an hour."

She adds, "And because, we're licensed, it's safer."

Once a family registers, children 18 months up to 12 years of age can stay at KidsPark whenever childcare's needed -- daytime, evenings or weekends.

At least two people staff the center at all times, with additional workers on-call. Most staff members have or are working toward their degrees in early childhood or elementary education.

There's a dedicated area for toddlers and one for school-aged kids, in addition to hourly arts-and-crafts, creative play areas and lots of room to run around.

Adrienne Chapman says it's a great solution for her toddler son. "When I want to go shopping, I don't have to take him. He can just com here and play with other little kids and get to interact. "

KidsPark is located at 170 Park Avenue in Willow Grove. To visit their website, click here.
