Man attacked, beaten in large fight in Newark

NEWARK, Del., - July 25, 2011

It happened around 12:48 Sunday morning on the 100 block of East Cleveland Avenue in Newark, Delaware.

Police responded to the area, to find several different groups fighting.

It took multiple units from the Newark Police Department and the University of Delaware Police to clear the crowds.

A male victim was found lying on the front lawn of a residence, with blood covering his face and head.

The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital, suffering several lacerations to the face, an orbital fracture, a nasal fracture, and swelling of the brain.

Witnesses report that the victim was involved in one of the fights after a male allegedly punched his girlfriend.

Initial reports indicate that ten people attacked before a male suspect struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle.

The impact knocked the victim to the ground, where others continued to kick and stomp him.

The suspect that struck the victim with the bottle is described as a white male in his 20's, 6'00" tall, 145 lbs, with a very tan complexion.

He has a chin-strap beard with the letters "DC" shaved into the right side of his head, multiple tattoos on his arms and was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jean shorts.

Investigators are seeking additional witnesses and information on the described suspect.
