Phila. police investigating baby's death

LOGAN - July 26, 2011

Early Tuesday morning medics took the nine-month-old child from a house on the 4500 block of North Seventh Street in the Logan section of the city.

He was rushed to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead at about 3:00 a.m.

Police say the boy had superficial bruises on him.

According to the lead investigator, the child suffered from a pre-existing respiratory issue.

However, police are still trying to determine what caused the infant's death.

An autopsy will need to be done and that is not expected to happen until Wednesday.

At this point, police have not characterized the child's death as suspicious.
