Suspect arrested in 'suspicious' E. Mount Airy fire

Police have made an arrest in the death of a woman who was found stabbed following a fire earlier this week.

Donald Newsome, 32, of the1600 block of Brill Street, was arrested is facing murder, arson, and related charges. The body of Rosalyn Daniels, 27, was discovered in a fire in the 1200 block of Cliveden Street in the East Mount Airy section of Philadelphia around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

An autopsy determined that she suffered multiple stab wounds to the back, neck and face.

Family members say her grandmother owns the home and has been in the hospital for several days after suffering a stroke Thursday, and her son and daughter are in Florida with Daniels' mother.

The mother of two, who goes by Rose, worked with special needs adults in New Jersey and loved to sing, her family said.
