Pa. judge to hear arguments over moving Barnes

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - August 1, 2011

Montgomery County Orphans' Court Judge Stanley Ott is set to hear the latest round in the saga on Monday afternoon. That's coming in a hearing he approved after a request from a group saying he didn't have all the evidence when he approved the collection's move to Philadelphia in 2006.

The Barnes' multibillion-dollar collection, which includes dozens of Renoirs, Matisses and Picassos, is slated to move from Lower Merion to Philadelphia because leaders say the institution is not financially viable at its original home.

The Barnes suburban gallery closed to the public earlier this year. The new Barnes building is scheduled to open next year.
