Someone has been posting Twitter messages in the name of the Virginia State Police.
The tweets were from an account called at VaStatePolice.
But the agency doesn't have a Twitter account.
State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller tells The Roanoke Times the account has been suspended at the agency's request.
Most of the postings were linked to real state police news releases.
Officials don't know who created the fake account.
The agency does have an official state police Facebook page.
