The crash happened shortly after 2:30 Monday afternoon.
Police say that the motorcycle collided with a truck, throwing the driver from the bike.
The unidentified male suffered serious abdominal and extremity injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police initially closed Route 896 in both directions between Old Baltimore Pike and Four Season Parkway as they continued their investigation.
The highway has since reopened but motorists should expect delays as the volume of traffic clears.
