Man accused of girlfriend's murder heading to trial

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - August 11, 2011

William Ward waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday morning.

He's accused of killing Trisha Sadler, 29, in June.

Officers went to a home on Cloverdale Road in Bethlehem after Sadler failed to show up for work for two days, police said.

They got into a six-hour standoff with Ward.

According to court documents, Ward attacked officers with pepper spray, vases and barbells when they tried to go in.

Once officers went into the home, officials said they found Sadler's dismembered body stuffed in bags.

Ward's next court date is September 20.
