Pa. DUI suspect caught at the 'end of the road'

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - August 15, 2011

Shenango Township police near New Castle say 54-year-old Norman Johnston III sped away when they tried to stop him for traffic violations about 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Police say Johnston, of West Pittsburg, turned onto the Route 422 bypass and ended up in a lane under construction. That's when his car went airborne then crashed down onto some rebar in a road bed that has no concrete in it. That flattened the front tires and damaging the car which stopped after 100 yards or so.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Johnston who remained in the Lawrence County Jail on Friday.
