Police: Dollar Tree clerk assaulted, choked

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - August 16, 2011

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the Dollar Tree on the 2300 block of Oregon Avenue.

A 62-year-old female worker saw two women with children carrying large bags.

The worker noticed one of the women had something in her hand that disappeared.

The worker questioned the two women and wanted to check their bags.

As the situation escalated, the worker stood at the front door blocking the women from leaving.

Police say one of the women pushed the worker away.

The other woman then grabbed the worker by the neck and choked her, then threw her to the ground.

The two women fled on foot with the children.

The condition of the Dollar Tree worker has not been released.

It has also not been determined if the women did place anything from the store in their bags.
