Driver sought in fatal hit-and-run

Police in Delaware are looking for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run on Tuesday night.

The pedestrian was hit at 9:20 p.m. on Route 9 just south of Stamm Boulevard.

Police say the man was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle and carried into the intersection of Rt. 9 and W. Market Place. He then fell to the ground.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The striking vehicle, a dark-colored Honda Accord, fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Route 9.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

The investigation into this crash is continuing. The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have any information in reference to this accident to contact the Crash Reconstruction Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 ext 286.
