Those are just a few of the deals of the new Habitat for Humanity Re-store in Kensington.
"There are just a million different things that are just great buys, " explains Frank Monaghan, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in Philadelphia. "And people will be thrilled to have them in their homes."
The 19,000-square-foot warehouse is full of inventory including lamps, appliances, new bathroom vanities, and even a mahogany bed.
"It's $350," Monaghan says. "It's a mahogany bed. It's really just a beautiful-looking piece of furniture." And there's an entire of area of the store filled with shelves of inventory donated by a dollar store that went out of business. You can buy a shopping bag for $5 and fill it with items from those shelves.
The items include cleaning supplies, cooking pans, ponytail holders and more.
The spacious brightly lit store is a stark contrast to the dark garage where Habitat for Humanity had been holding monthly sales. The new store's in the former Lomax carpet building and the store is now open every Thursday through Saturday.
And the cheap prices for shoppers are just part of the story here.
Donors get a tax writeoff, tons of materials are kept out of landfills, and all the money generated by sales here help Habitat build homes for the organization's partner families.
