South Phila. family seeks help finding brother's killer

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - August 20, 2011

"Donte was full of life. He was just an exciting, adventurous, outgoing person; loveable," said Victoria Wylie. "I loved my brother."

Just thinking of her brother puts a smile on Victoria Wylie's face.

It was Tuesday, June 17, 2008, around 5:35am at 1622 Ringgold Street in South Philadelphia.

Two gunmen wearing caps and bandanas stormed the home of 20 year old Donte Wylie while he, his girlfriend and their 11-month old daughter slept in the upstairs bedroom.

The masked gunmen fatally shot Wylie in his bed, but his girlfriend and daughter were not harmed.

Police say nothing was taken, so the reason for the deadly attack remains a mystery.

"There is a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of these individuals. Just call the Tipline at 215-546-TIPS, and you will receive a code number. We got to get these people off the street," said Santo Montecalvo from the Citizens Crime Commission.

"Please, if you know anything, please help us close this chapter of our life," said Victoria.

In her brother's memory, Victoria put together a holiday toy drive back in 2009 for children who lost loved ones to violence.

Now, she is hoping to put together a non-profit foundation in her brother's honor.

"My niece has to grow up without a dad," said Victoria. "Thank God, I have other brothers who can play that role. But there are children who don't have anyone."

Again, a $5,000 reward can be yours. The number to call is 215-546-TIPS.
