Police say three masked robbers broke into a home on the 200 block of West Ruscomb Street in the city's Logan section just before 1:00 a.m..
The masked gunmen shot a 35-year-old man several times. He is in critical condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.
The robbers also shot and killed the family's pit bull.
Three children, ages 4, 8, and 11, who were inside during the break-in, were not hurt.
No arrests have been made.
