A spokeswoman for the city's emergency operations center said a car heading along Algon Avenue at high speed struck a utility pole at about 9 p.m. Saturday, killing one of the two occupants.
She says the fire department had 129 fire and rescue calls from midnight to 5 am, compared to only 29 during the same period last week.
