Some Big Apple cabbies are now behind the wheel of the Ford Transit Connect small van.
Ford says their new yellow cabs started picking up passengers late yesterday.
The van is one of two new vehicles approved by the city's Taxi and Limousine Commission.
The other is the Nissan NV200 van, which will go into taxi service in the fall of 2013.
The new cabs will replace the fleet of less fuel efficient Crown Victorias.
Ford is set to stop making the Crown Vic in a matter of days.
