76ers operating as usual under coach Collins

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - September 9, 2011

Collins wrapped up a week of meetings and film sessions with his staff on Friday. He says it's "business as usual" and wants the Sixers to be ready to go whenever a labor deal is reached. Collins says he's operating as if the league will play a full season.

He spent much of the summer in San Diego after an exciting first season in Philadelphia. He led the Sixers from the draft lottery to the playoffs, where they lost a five-game series to the Miami Heat.

Collins and the rest of his staff and management are banned from communicating with his players.

Led by Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala, a large group of Sixers held team workouts last month in Los Angeles.
