Police investigate 2nd cemetery assault in south Jersey

CAMDEN, N.J. - September 14, 2011

The latest incident happened yesterday at the Evergreen Cemetery, located on Mount Ephraim Avenue and Browning Street in Camden.

Police have not released any details about their investigation. But the mayor's office says the attacks happened around noon.

There's no word on the victim's condition or any possible suspects.

That attack was previously reported to be a sex assault, but police said on Wednesday that they could not confirm if the attack was sexual in nature.

The previous attack happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the Fairview Methodist Cemetery in Middle Township, Cape May County.

A resident on Orbit Drive called police after a bleeding woman came to his home.

Officers arrived to find the 29-year-old victim, from Avalon. She told police she had just visited a cemetery plot and - upon returning to her car - was sexually assaulted by a man who had been hiding around the vehicle.

The woman was able to break free and ran to the home on Orbit Drive.

On Tuesday investigators released a sketch of the suspect.

The victim described her attacker as a white male, thin build, late 20's to early 30's, buzz cut hair with a light beard on the sides and heavier hair on his mustache and chin. He was wearing shorts and a white baggy t-shirt.

The woman was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.

It is unclear at this time if the two assaults are related. The investigation continues.
