Police: Pa. couple abused premature twins, broke bones

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - September 14, 2011

State police in Uniontown say 21-year-old Earl Ritenour and 19-year-old Kristen Eicher, both of Normalville, are responsible for abuse that doctors at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC told police resulted from "excessive force" applied to the infants.

Police did not return a call or immediately say how premature the twins were in a news release announcing the charges Wednesday. The alleged abuse occurred from July 23 until Aug. 22, when the infants were cared for by their parents.

Online court records don't list attorneys for the couple.

Doctors found the twin boy had a broken arm and six fractured ribs. The twin girl had a broken leg and healing rib fractures.
