State Rep. charged with DUI wants ARD program

EASTON, Pa. - September 30, 2011

Democratic State Rep. Joseph Brennan requested entry into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program at his formal arraignment Thursday in Northampton County court.

Brennan was arrested June 22 after police say someone called 911 after seeing him fall down in a parking lot, then get into his car and drive away. Bethlehem police say Brennan's blood-alcohol level was 0.30. The legal limit for drivers in Pennsylvania is 0.08.

County prosecutors and a judge must sign off on the ARD application.

After his arrest, Brennan said in a statement he has had a "long and personal struggle with alcohol."
