Mercer County shop owner shot during robbery attempt

EWING TWP., N.J. - October 7, 2011

The incident happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. along the 300 block of Homan Avenue.

Police say two men wearing gray hoodies entered the store for a robbery.

Authorities say during the robbery attempt one of the men shot the owner once in the chest

The men fled on foot and remain at large.

The owner has been identified as 49-year-old William Dixon.

Dixon was rushed by medics to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

He is in critical condition.

Police say the clothing store has been robbed at least twice in the past weeks.

It is not believed the men robbed the store of any valuables.
