Mrs. Fixit: Baking Soda and the Car

October 23, 2011

Baking soda is a really gentle abrasive so it's the perfect choice for removing tree sap and bugs from your car's exterior without damaging the finish.

Dip a damp cloth in some baking soda and use a circular motion to remove all of those nasty little blemishes. Then simply rinse the area to remove the baking soda.

The same solution will clean your headlights and keep them shining brightly.

Dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda in a quart of hot water and use it to clean car windows. The baking soda will break up road grime and ensure that the windows remain streak free.

While you're at the windsheild, scrub the wiper blades with the same baking soda mixture. It will remove grime from those blades and keep them in tip top condition.

If your car is smelling a little less than fresh, sprinkle upholstry and mats with baking soda, let it sit for twenty minutes or so and then vacuum away dirt and odors.

See how important baking soda is in your car care routine! Try it for yourself, I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
